Available for speaking at your event
I have prepared and delivered talks with customized content on leadership, collaboration, and personal development for offsites at Google and other large multinational companies, and would love to do so for your company. My current selection of available talks are:
Unlocking your Executive Potential: Your job changes when you become an executive. Instead of solving problems yourself with your expertise, you start getting work done through others. Changing your mindset will help you scale your leadership to create greater team and company impact. By learning how to align people around your vision and values, you will generate results without being directly involved, enabling you to more effectively lead larger teams. This talk will help you see how you might be limiting your career growth by holding onto mindsets that brought you success but are no longer serving you. You can check out a 30-minute version of this talk here.
Creating Organizational Alignment: Your organization’s growth will be limited if you as a leader are needed to make decisions about execution or team priorities. What will unlock growth is aligning everybody in your organization so that they make consistent decisions and principled tradeoffs in alignment with the leaders e.g. Zuckerberg’s “Move fast and break things” motto directed Facebook engineers to prioritize execution speed over stability. To scale organizations effectively requires leaders to embody that alignment and lead by example. Here’s an example delivered to a Chief of Staff audience.
You Have A Choice: Based on my book of the same name, You Have A Choice is a reminder that the one thing you control in your life is your actions. To change your life means changing your actions, as you are likely contributing in some way to your stuckness. In particular, you might have to confront an unconscious belief that is limiting your options. I illustrate the principles by sharing several examples from my own life and those of my executive clients, and offer interactive exercises for listeners to apply the ideas to their own life. You can hear me talking about these principles in these podcast appearances.
Finding Your Way: Careers used to be simple. You picked a job, and you worked your way up the ladder with your manager telling you what would earn you the next promotion. Now you have more freedom and choice with too many options. How can you possibly make the right choice? In this talk, I share principles that helped me navigate my own oddball career more effectively, and lead the audience through several exercises to gain more clarity on their next career moves. I also help them discover what will provide more meaning and satisfaction in their jobs. Here’s an example adapted for a Chief of Staff audience, and I’ve included an excerpt below as well.
